As we look toward the 2020 model year, the Toyota Tacoma, which is currently the most popular midsize pickup truck on the market is going to receive some upgrades to make it an excellent truck to drive. This truck is already one that we love and it has been the best-selling model for the last fourteen years but there will be items added to give it new capabilities and a fresh new look as we head toward the next model year. Let’s take a look at some of these upgrades.
New Business for the Tacoma
The bed of the Toyota Tacoma is the business end of the truck and a new Led bed lamp is now available for you to choose. This new lamp will make it easier for you to see what’s in the cargo box when you need to see what’s in the back of the truck at night. You’re also going to see a new grille design, upgraded taillights, and redesigned wheels. The SR5 model and higher give you more in the cab with a new ten-way power-adjustable driver’s seat that gives you the comfort you want when you drive.
A First for the Toyota Brand
Toyota has avoided adding some connectivity options to its infotainment system for a while for fear of the ease of hacking the system. For the 2020 Tacoma, we will finally see a new infotainment system that will support Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa. The entry-level SR model gives you a seven-inch touchscreen while the SR5 modes and higher give you an eight-inch screen to make sure you have the size and the look you want. This is the first completely modern infotainment system from Toyota to give us the connectivity desired on the road.
Continuing the Safety You Desire
One area of driving that Toyota hasn’t been slow to embrace is safety. The Toyota Safety Sense P suite of advanced safety technologies will continue to be offered for the Tacoma. This package includes features like lane departure alert, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and much more. These items make a difference for you and there will certainly be some optional safety items that will help you have more of the electronic aids you want when you take this truck out for a drive on the road.
Going Where You Want in the Tacoma
The TRD Pro is the most interesting version of this midsize Toyota Tacoma pickup truck. This version of the truck gains a new 16-inch wheel design which is four pounds lighter than the previous model. The tires used are reinforced with Kevlar for added strength in troublesome areas that you’ll find in the wilderness. This off-road version of the Tacoma is also equipped with 2.5-inch Fox internal bypass shocks, upgraded springs, an electronically controlled locking rear differential, and standard 4WD. You can also enjoy some creature comforts in this truck including a power moonroof, a Panoramic View Monitor, and LED fog lights. The 2020 model year is shaping up to be one of the most incredible years for trucks and the Tacoma appears to be ready to continue its dominance.
