Jeep dates back to World War II and since then has given us vehicles that are fun on and off the roads. It’s not only a fun all-terrain SUV, but you’ll also find the Jeep team is embracing the future of driving with new hybrid models. The Jeep hybrids will be introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and will be sporting a new badge, 4xe. 4xe will signify an electrified vehicle from Jeep.
What Models Will Wear the New Badge
The various Jeep models that have the mild-hybrid assist system with the new eTorque system. Along with the new thoroughly, hybridized models will wear this new badge. The Jeep Compass and Renegade plug-in hybrid models will be part of the mix. 4xe badge means you have a vehicle that can offer the fuel savings that make a lot of sense for you on the road as well as off the beaten path.
Three Jeeps with Hybrid Power
Three of the names you’ll find with the 4xe badge on them will be the Jeep Wrangler, Compass, and Renegade. The smaller models will have the 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor. Because these models are going to be plug-in versions, you’ll have 31 miles of electric power. That is when you drive and the maximum horsepower that reaches 240. We don’t have any information regarding the power numbers of the new Wrangler plug-in yet, but we can expect this model to have more.
A Potential Powertrain for the Wrangler Hybrid
Because Jeep is part of the FCA family of brands, you can expect to see the same powertrain used for the Wrangler Plug-In hybrid. This powertrain could be the same one that’s offered in the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid to make sure you can have the drive and the quality feeling you want when you take this SUV out for a ride. The Pacifica Hybrid gives you 260 horsepower and 33 miles of all-electric driving, which could be what’s needed for the Wrangler.
More Information Coming Soon
Jeep will offer us full details of all three models at three different auto shows this year. The first show where we can learn about these models is at the Geneva show in March. The rest of the information regarding the Jeep plug-in hybrid models will be offered to us in April at the New York and Beijing shows. Until then, we can only wonder what the different stats will be and how capable these new SUVs will be when its time to head out on the trails and enjoy the drive in your Jeep.
