The 2025 Toyota Prius does more than just look better than its predecessors, it’s more powerful, fun, and packaged much better than ever before.
For many years, you might never have thought about driving a Prius. Despite this little Toyota being the most popular hybrid car on the market, it has been looked at as a last resort for drivers looking for better fuel mileage. Once the 2023 model year arrived, Toyota brought out a car that shows up and shows off. This generation has confidence, sporty style, and the power desired while maintaining its efficiency level.
Changes that go beyond the look
The new Prius has a fantastic package of upgrades that make it much more appealing and enjoyable than before. Call it a glow-up if you want, but this car now has a much more powerful hybrid powertrain, which makes it much more fun to drive. It also features a lower and wider stance that makes it easier to carve up the corners on the road, making the Prius more agile than ever before. The added power doesn’t hurt the efficiency at all, which means you get to have everything you want and need in this new Toyota hybrid car.

What powers the Prius?
The 2025 Toyota Prius uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor to produce 194 horsepower. This is a huge change over the previous generation, which only produced 121 horsepower. The Prius can be had with either the standard FWD setup or an optional AWD layout, which sends power to all four wheels. If you choose AWD, you’ll add a second electric motor and increase horsepower to 196 during your drive.
The base front-drive model is the efficiency champ, giving you 57 city/56 hwy mpg, while the AWD models return 53 city/54 hwy mpg to give you the efficiency levels desired in this impressive little hybrid car. If you choose the XLE or Limited models, those figures decline to 52 city/52 hwy mpg for FWD models and 49 city/50 hwy mpg for the AWD versions. These figures are much better than what you’ll find for most other vehicles on the market.
