2025 Honda Lineup: Minimal Changes With Key Upgrades

The Honda lineup won’t experience as many changes for 2025 as it has for the previous several years, but it still brings significant upgrades to the market.

Honda has updated or redone pretty much all of its lineup over the past several years. These updates and improvements include adding the Passport midsize two-row SUV, an all-new electric vehicle in the Honda Prologue, and adding new generational versions of the entire lineup. Very few changes are scheduled for the 2025 model year, but that doesn’t mean Honda isn’t improving a few models to give the market more of what we want.

A New hydrogen Honda

Honda dips its proverbial toes in the waters of the hydrogen market with the new 2025 Honda CR-V e:FCEV model. This new compact SUVs follows the history of Honda’s attempts to bring improved fuel mileage and zero-emissions vehicles to the market. This new CR-V combines the elements of a plug-in hybrid and a hydrogen fuel cell model to give drivers the best of both worlds.

This new entry into the Honda lineup has a total driving range of 270 miles and a 17.7-kWh battery pack that gives drivers up to 29 miles of all-electric driving. The new CR-V e:FCEV delivers 174 horsepower and 229 lb-ft of torque, which is more than adequate in the compact SUV class.

The first run of this new hydrogen-powered Honda SUV will be sent to California as a testing location. This state has served as a ted-bed for many hydrogen vehicles in the past. This new Honda CR-V comes with a full suite of Honda tech to be a modern vehicle that uses hydrogen. Using this fuel, the CR-V e:FCEV only expels water vapor as its exhaust.

Pros

  • Fuel cell vehicle with a battery backup
  • Thorough package of standard equipment
  • Model-specific chassis tuning

Cons

  • Extremely niche
  • Limited charging and fueling infrastructure
  • Mediocre driving range

The Honda Pilot receives a new top trim

The 2025 Honda Pilot is still pretty fresh from its recent redesign, but that doesn’t stop the brand from adding a new top trim. This new model, called Black Edition, gives the three-row midsize SUV dark trim accents and a more sinister look.

The Black Edition Pilot improves the Honda lineup with gloss black 20-inch wheels, a gloss black grille bar, upper side mirror housings, blacked-out front fascia ducts, and black window trim. You’ll also see black on the doors and rear bumpers, which aid in distinguishing the Black Edition from the Elite model.

The cabin area also has some upgrades with perforated leather seats with red accents. This red trimming continues on the steering wheel, seats, and door panels. The interior accent lighting at this trim is also red.

Pros

    • Pleasant ride comfort and body control
    • Spacious cabin
    • Abundant driver assistance tech

Cons

      • No hybrid offering
      • Touchscreen is too small for this SUV
      • Rivals are a bit more exciting

A new Passport for 2026

Much of the Honda lineup remains the same for 2025, and we’re unsure of changes awaiting us for 2026, except for one. The Honda Passport has already been teased as an improved model for 2026, which will add more off-road tech and features to go along with a brand-new style for the midsize two-row SUV.

The current Passport is extremely similar to the Pilot, using the same engine, tech, and platform. The Passport is made to be off-road-ready, but the Pilot has a TrailSport trim for some off-road fun. The new 2026 Passport should be more distinct and carve its own path instead of staying on the same trail as the Pilot. Teaser images have already given us an idea of what the 2026 Passport front fascia could look like. We expect to see this new off-road SUV early in 2025.

Only a few small changes are taking place in the Honda lineup for 2025. These changes are significant to the models associated, giving us a hydrogen-powered CR-V and a sinister-looking Pilot. More changes are in store for the next model year with a new Passport that could change the game for Honda.
