This brand is the Korean name that you show a serious level of respect for because the brand is well known for packaging a large number of great features into the models that we love to drive. Even so, you might not know much about the history of this brand or where the vehicle that you choose to drive is built. Let’s take a look at these items now and learn more about what Hyundai is and where it came from.

Hyundai; A History

The South Korean automotive giant of Hyundai was founded in 1947 in Seoul by Chung Ju-Yung. It was founded as Hyundai Engineering and Construction Company and eventually, the Hyundai Motor Company division of the brand was created and incorporated in 1967. The headquarters for Hyundai is still in Seoul, South Korea. The first self-developed and built car was the Hyundai Pony and it was introduced in 1975 but never made its way to the US. The first car that came to the US to be sold was the Excel which went on sale in 1986.
Even though the Pony couldn’t be sold in the US, due to the emissions laws of the time, it did meet the emissions regulations of Canada and soon became one of the most popular models offered in the country with a low price and the qualities desired for the drive. This little car made it possible for Hyundai to establish its presence in North America and it was the right way for the brand to gain our trust. This strong presence is still felt today with a large lineup of models that we can admire and enjoy driving with the packages of features we want.
