Fiat might not have a strong presence in America, but it does in other countries. The 2025 Fiat Grande Panda is the next addition to the brand’s lineup.
Grande Panda might sound like this new vehicle should be a large and substantial SUV that rivals models from many other brands, but that’s not the case. This new Fiat is another small addition to the lineup, keeping with the tradition of models from this brand being diminutive in size. This new car isn’t coming to America, but it could be extremely popular in other markets.
What is the new Fiat?
This new car is an adorable little crossover that fits into the European B-segment, making it a capable off-roader for light trails while remaining small enough to fit on tight roads found in many European cities. The name might sound large, but the Grande Panda is pretty small. For comparison, this new car is 10.1 inches smaller than the Fiat 500X, which is the closest thing the brand has had to a crossover in America. This new Fiat is also 2.7 inches smaller than the average for its class.
Impressive design in a small car
The new 2025 Fiat Grande Panda might not be big in size, but it has a lot of design features to give you tons of ways to love this little car. The headlights and taillights have a pixel theme that we’ve seen from Hyundai, and the word “PANDA” is imprinted along both sides of the car. The same font is used for the “FIAT” on the rear hatch. The wheels measure 17 inches and are diamond-cut alloy models that continue with the pixel theme, bringing back the geometric design of the original Panda from the 1980s. This original model was a 4×4 vehicle that could handle time in the wilderness.
To give this new car a bit of a rugged look, Fiat fitted plastic cladding around the wheel arches to make it look like it’s ready to go out on the trails for some fun. There are also chunky roof rails, which give the vehicle a bit more of a purposeful feel than you might expect.
How much power should this Fiat have?
The brand hasn’t confirmed any performance and power figures yet, but this new car is expected to be offered as an EV and a hybrid. The EV models should be powered by a 44.0-kWh battery pack and deliver 199 miles of driving range on the WLTP cycle. As you would expect, the power won’t be anything to write home about, but 113 horsepower should be enough to get this car going.
The hybrid model should be offered with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine and an electric motor that gives the engine a slight boost in power.
What platform will Stellantis use?
Stellantis has a Smart Car platform, which will be used for the Citroen C3 and the new 2025 Fiat Grande Panda. This platform supports EV and hybrid powertrains, which the Fiat will utilize and take full advantage of. The new C3 is using the same hybrid powertrain as the Grande Panda, giving Stellantis at least two small cars that offer the hybrid driving package desired.
Lineup diversity
You might not know about any Fiat vehicles still being sold in America, but the electric 500e is the only car that wears this brand name here. In Europe, the lineup is much more diverse with the 500, 500X, a Tipo hatchback and wagon, and the Abarth models of most of these cars. There’s also the 600X, which is a crossover SUV, and the smaller Panda, which is a cute vehicle. Now, the Grande Pande joins the mix, giving the lineup an additional Panda that is larger and mechanically different from the vehicle it shares a name with.
The new Grande Pande is an addition to the lineup, not a replacement for something else. The current Panda should be around until 2027, which will make the current model 16 years old. This newcomer could be much more enticing with its larger size that measures 157 inches long, which is about 12 inches longer than the current Panda.
The new 2025 Fiat Grande Panda is heading to the European market to give the lineup a bit more of what many drivers want to enjoy. Its unlikely that this little car will make it to America, but if you take a vacation to Europe, you might be able to rent it to drive and enjoy while visiting the old continent.
